Plentiful Pentecost

This week for Religious education we have been looking at the four events of Pentecost which you can find on my create. I found this topic interesting because it helped me build a deeper understanding of what the disciples went through when Jesus left them and what impact it made on their lives.

I had to create a slideshow to showcase what the four events of Pentecost are.

Do you know why Jesus left his disciples? How can I improve next time?

CST – Catholic, Social, Teaching!

This week for RE (Religious  Education) we have been looking at the nine Catholic, Social, Teaching principles . I found this topic interesting because it helped me build a deeper understanding of the values of Caritas and how I can notice them in and use them in my everyday life.

The nine CST principles are: Human Dignity, Particapation, The Principle of Solidarity, Subsidiarity, The Principle of the Common Good, Stewardship, Preferential Protection for the Poor and Vulnerable, Promotion of Peace and Distributive Justice.

I had to create  in a group of 3-4 of a  Video to show that we understand what the nine principles are what what they mean. I created my video with: Bronte and Francesca

Did you know about CST before you read my post?

Informative Biography

This term for writing we have been looking at biographies . I found writing biography interesting because it helped me build a deeper understanding of Kate Sheppard (She won the right for women to vote in NZ) and how I can notice her campaign in my every day life . I enjoyed writing about Kate because she is a person that I admire because of her determination and her need for change.

Did you know that women have only had the right to vote since 1893. That´s not too long ago!

Here is my biography, Click on the link to learn more about Kate Sheppard : Link

Do you know anything else about Kate Sheppard?

Forth Sunday of Lent

For the fourth week of Lent we have been looking at love. I found this topic interesting because it helped me build a deeper understanding of fortunate we are compared to others and how I can notice it in my everyday life and be more grateful.

I have created three bookmarks with messages from the gospel.

Here is my Create: Link

Have you read the gospel for this week?

Rad Reading Wk4

This week for reading I have been reading about Elon musk and his achievements across the years. I have also been looking at the text features  in the articles.  A text feature is a title it tells the reader the overall topic of what your reading and the captions give you a small explanation of whats happening in the picture.

My learning goals were: Identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about and identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important.

I had to create a poster or video or anything that explains all the text features in the text. I enjoyed this task and it helped me develop a deeper understanding of text features and why they are important in the text.

Here is my video:

What other text features do you know about?

Te Tiriti o Waitangi

This week we have been focusing on the Treaty of Waitangi and He Whakaputunga.

Waitangi day is a public holiday in New Zealand celebrating sovereignty and freedom. We had to do nine tasks to develop a deeper understanding on the documents of NZ and why they were instaded.

For one of our tasks we had to answer four different questions that are about He Whakaputunga on of the very first documents of Aotearoa.

I found this task as a great start to the week it helped clear up the differences between the treaty and He Whakaputunga.
Do you know what He Whakaputunga is?

For another task we had to discover the differences between the Treaty in English and in Maori. Lots of things were stated in both versions but they was a bit of miss communication starting different things that befit each country.

Diffrences Channel 6

I enjoyed this task a lot and would definitely do something similar  again on a different topic. I really enjoyed searching through the text to find the information needed.

For my final task I had to make a Cross word using all the knowledge I have gained.

This was a hundred percent my favourite task and I really liked the site I used for it.

Here is my KWL Chart. – What I learnt know and want to find out.

What do you know about the Treaty of Waitangi and He Whakaputunga?

Magior Map

Half way through term 4 we have been learning about earths systems that can include Rocks, Water, Air, Biodiversity aka living things and soil. There are tones for different types of rocks: metamorphic rock, igneous and sedimentary. Igneous rocks form when molten rock (magma or lava) cools and solidifies. Sedimentary rocks originate when particles settle out of water or air, or by precipitation of minerals from water.  Soil is made up of: silt, clay and sand.

The water cycle is driven by energy from the Sun. Liquid water is evaporated and changed into a gas. In this process, energy is absorbed. The gaseous vapour rises and circulates in the atmosphere, cools and changes back into a liquid. This process is called condensation and releases energy. Tiny droplets of water in the atmosphere accumulate to form clouds, which can return the water to the earth as precipitation.

Air: The air contains Nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapour. in our atmosphere there are 5 layers : The Stratosphere, Troposphere , Mesophere , Thermosphere and Exosphere.  space starts at the Kármán line Witch is between the Mesophere and the Termosphere.

Biodiversity:There are over a million different known species in the world. There are many species of plants, fungi (including bacteria), insects, fish and animals (including mammals, birds and amphibians). This all adds up to the food chain Credits: Link

After we learnt about these things we had to choose one of these  and create an Island or world.

Reading Between the Lines

This week for reading I have had fun leaning about reading in between the lines. This is when you are reading you get the bigger picture. like theirs someone sitting on there own at a school and there crying. You might make the connection that there sad and that they have been bullied or upset with someone. This is what reading between the lines is.

My learning goal: independently predict, interpret and analyse text, ‘reading between the lines’ to gain a deeper meaning.

This week I have created a picture that makes the person read between the lines. Here is my create:

When have you read between the lines?

Wrighting

This week for writing we had to do show not tell. My learning goal for this task was to think about what effective vocabulary to get your point across in a clear and concise manner.

I had a limit of 100 words to write about this picture.

I came up with this: At the end of the mossy stone path the trees began to thin and dead lifeless trees stole the moonlight as the house came into focus. A grand building with tall pointed roofs where sticks and cracks gleamed brightly, The broken glass windows were enough to send a chill up your spine as the moon hovered gingerly casting a dark shadow across the house. A wisp of icy wind cut through the air and clouds of bats emerged from the night. Crows roasted on nearby branches overlooking the night. But still the house glimmered with menace. – 96 Words
